Day 43: Impressionists in Paris, a Beautiful Church, and Lots of Wind

Today was one of those Manhattan days where the sunlight hits everything just right and the wind tries to push me down the sidewalk a little faster than I planned. Manhattan looked beautiful. I really do love this city and the culture something I always miss.

My first stop was A Night with the Impressionists, Paris 1874. The moment I stepped inside, the outside world faded away. Paintings I have seen countless times in books and museums seemed to come alive around me. Brushstrokes drifted across the walls, and the music added a calm rhythm that made everything feel even more immersive. I could almost imagine myself walking along the Seine, listening to conversations in small Parisian cafés, or standing near Monet as he studied the shifting light on the water.

The projections were vivid and the whole atmosphere created a feeling of being transported straight into 1874 Paris. The show captured the curiosity and boldness of the early Impressionists. It was peaceful and surprisingly emotional, a reminder of how art can move me even when I am standing in the middle of New York City.

The virtual reality made everything feel incredibly real. There were two moments that stood out. The first was when I had to walk across a waterway on narrow boards, which felt strange and slightly risky, even though I knew it was only an illusion. The second was the ramp that did not exist in real life. I felt myself walking up a steep incline, then stepping down a big drop at the top, even though the floor was perfectly flat. It was completely bizarre and convincing. There was no water, no ramp, and no big step, yet my body reacted as if everything were real.

After that, I went to the Church of St. Paul the Apostle. It was amazing, beautiful artwork, and an atmosphere that felt calm and reflective. Unbelievable statues, amazing paintings, and art so beautiful.

When I stepped back outside, the wind was stronger, but Manhattan looked even more vibrant. The city seemed full of life. Between art, history, and the beauty of the day, it  made me forget about all the crazy traffic I've been enduring. 😎

I walked towards Central park, but it was so windy, so cold, it was time to go home!
