I started by day with no puppy to pet. After breakfast, I began by Journey by heading to Old Montreal, unfortunately, I did not get there until in the afternoon at some point. Montreal was a traffic nightmare all day long, not only at rush hour. This was Manhattan on steroids!
It was a cool town with shops and cafes.
From there, I made my way to the magnificent Notre-Dame Basilica. It was beautiful! The paintings of the stations of the Cross were so beautiful. They were something like I've never seen before. The moment I stepped inside, I was in awe. Blue colors were all around the basilica, were amazing The station of the Cross paintings
In the afternoon, I headed to St. Joseph’s Oratory, perched high on Mount Royal. The climb up to the basilica offered a spectacular view of the city, and when I reached the top, I was rewarded with a sense of peace that words can hardly capture. Thank God they were escalators to come down! 😎. Inside was pretty cool with all the beautiful red candles. The green ones were cool as well. Where Mary was, were beautiful blue candles. People were praying and touching Mary's feet, you could almost feel like healing was being done. People were lighting candles and offering prayers. These stations of the Cross were beautiful. I took my time exploring the chapels, gardens, the city view from up top, the museum, the church, and the basilica. The basilica was so beautiful, the stations of the Cross were huge rock carvings which were unbelievable. Whether religious or not, it’s impossible not to feel something profound there. I must have spent a few hours there, it was pretty intense!
By the end of the day, I felt like I had seen three different sides of Montreal, the old-world charm of its streets, the spiritual grandeur of its churches, and the quiet reflection that comes from standing in places built with faith and love. Oh wait there is a fourth side, the crazy cover crowded, under construction, impossible to drive streets. Not that there's anything wrong with that. As the sun set over the city, I couldn’t help but think that this was one of those days I’d remember for a long time.
On my way to go back, I saw a couple of mountains, no snow, no character, I already miss Banff
.
I had dinner at a restaurant that too far from Quebec City, and though it spoke English. The menu was not an English. It was very interesting. The waitress was so nice and patient. I had a salad, a filet mignon and some garlic shrimp. I was eating the salad, she came over and asked me how everything was. I said I'm still working on the salad but did not get to the good stuff yet and she thought I didn't like the steak or shrimp. I gave her a thumbs up like everything was good. Did I had to revert to Google translate, then she had a big smile on her face. She was so nice and pleasant. Her reward was a very nice tip. The food was excellent. The restaurant was, Brasserie Daniel Lapointe. Great atmosphere, great food, and a amazing service.
I did get to see some cool leaves driving around town. I found an outlet, and then thinking, I'm going to get outlet prices, plus 30% off for the American dollar, but the prices were insane, nothing like St Augustine or Orlando. Even higher than Destin. 😎
Tomorrow I hit the ground running through Old Quebec, them onto Montmercy Falls. Did most likely a hotel somewhere between Quebec and Maine.
